Be Your Own Owner

A few weeks ago a wise man told me to be your own owner.

Yes, be your own owner means hold yourself accountable for your actions. Own yourself and what you do, and be proud of that. I agree with this. The only person that can make choices for yourself is you, and those choices determine your character, as well as who you become.

Be your own owner has a second meaning, though. It can relate specifically to business, and become a mindset to live by. What if every employee in an office acted as if they were the owner of the company? What if they paid as much attention to detail as the CEO or CFO do? Can you imagine how much of an impact that would have on the entire office community? People would put 100% of their energy into their career, they would do everything possible in order to help the company succeed and they would work to have a positive atmosphere in the office. Can you imagine what would happen if each person in the office had invested as much time and energy into the well-being of the company as the founder has?

The impacts would surely be astounding.
