Wow. That is all I have to say. Wow.
This past week, in one of my courses, a leader in the logistics industry spoke to my class.
The first thing I would like to talk about is his leadership style. It was so unique, I have never heard anyone take that approach to the topic. I loved it. His honesty was admirable, never one to beat around the bush, always down to business. I could not agree more with these philosophies. I have never been one for small talk. I think respect can be gained and more can be accomplished when the bottom line is the center of thinking. His leadership style was brave. He had confidence in himself and his abilities. He was not afraid to stand up for what he believes in. I can only hope that one day I can develop a leadership style as strong and effective as his.
The wisdom that he shared with us was also very impactful. He told us that, as young people, if we see decisions made that we do not agree with or do not think are right, we need to investigate further. Obviously those leaders had some source of information that we did not have access to. He encouraged us to dig a little deeper and find that information that caused them to make that decision As a result, we can have a better understanding of why the decision was made. Also, when we get into the higher authoritative position, we will better know how to handle situations and make decisions. I have never thought of that type of a situation using that angle of thinking. After hearing his wisdom, though, his advice makes so much sense.
I find people like this speaker to be captivating and inspiring. Listening to these leaders fuel my energy and provide me with a renewed sense of motivation. Every time I hear a leader speak, I try to take pieces of their leadership style and apply it to my own. By the time I graduate from college I will have such a unique and dynamic leadership style. I am anxious to apply his teachings to my daily life.
