Buckeye Moments

Life, really, is just a summation of many different moments. There are moments of sadness, moments of happiness, moments of defeat, moments of triumph, moments of exhaustion, moments of exuberance, moments of anger and moments of peace. My favorite type of moment, though, is the moment of greatness.

As I have started my life at The Ohio State University, I have been experiencing these moments more often than ever. Often they are sparked by the people that surround me. When singing Carmen Ohio and swaying back and forth, chills never fail to make an appearance. When forming relationships with advisors, upperclassmen and fellow freshman I realize that these are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. When looking at Ohio Stadium while running on the treadmill, it strikes me that this is my home now and forever. I like to call these moments Buckeye moments.

There are moments of coming greatness that I have been experiencing as well. These moments make me realize that I have all of the tools necessary to achieve everything I have ever dreamed of. Sitting in my car talking to a very good friend about how we are both going to be CFO’s one day is surreal because I know that we both mean it and will achieve it. Being so young and realizing that I am building my career at this very moment, as I am typing on my keyboard, is completely astounding considering the fact that I turned 18 less than a month ago. Looking at the upperclassmen that are making appearances on magazine covers and reading about OSU alumni that are receiving awards makes me realize that I too can achieve such great heights.

If I work hard enough, I can be the one talking to undergraduate students who are looking for motivation or a role model. I can be the one who serves as a leader for the entire community around her. I can be the one that reflects all of the greatness that is The Ohio State University. I can be the one that never seizes to amaze the people surrounding her. I am making those dreams come true one day at a time, and that is pretty darn awesome.
